Cracking open the closed door

Abstract

The goal of this talk is to give a glimpse into the work that is being done behind closed doors and to contrast it with the security research that is broadly publicly available.

I want to give newcomers and hopefuls a view _behind the curtain_

BIO

Now this is the story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I started blowing up hard- and soft-ware

In the high north of Germany born and raised
In the basement is where I spent most of my days
Writing Pascal on an old DOS machine
with no concept yet of what a pointer should mean
When I got into Uni I got up to some good
stopping satellites from falling on your neighborhood.
Got bored, dropped out, then changed my career
wasted years on games with no release date near.

After some introspection I came to see the light
and switched into security almost over night.
First worked as a consultant, got my OSCP
but deep down I knew that research was where I should be.

Solved the BFS challenges back in the day
knew the intended solutions, but did it my own way.
Then when Lukas retired and Miguel just pissed off
we all moved to BG which is the current Bluefrost.
